Except for in RotJ, the Rancor was male. Possibly an offspring of Munchi. Also: Backstory for a classic Star Wars character who really didn't need it. I'll be a little sadder the next time I watch RotJ.
How can you tell? I don't recall it being referred to as "him".Except for in RotJ, the Rancor was male.

If Omega has the accelerated growth of the other clones she might only be 5 years old. And she only has the education the kaminoans chose to give her, which was probably not a rounded and unbiased picture of the galaxy. So, girl who grew up in an industrial complex dedicated to the production and sale of people doesn't know what a slave is? I thought Omega was smarter than that.
Do you think it was in use with the clones or perhaps the Mandalorians had their own version to maintain their genealogy?I'm now all caught up. I enjoyed the callback to Cut and his family and the fact that Rex kept in touch with him. That sort of world-building is nice.
I also appreciate the effort they're going through to explain the whole "chain codes" thing, although I think they still have some work to do to make it make sense in the context from the Mandalorian (e.g. when Boba Fett presents his chain code, it appears to be as much a genealogy as a personal identification code, which suggests to me that it may predate the Empire).
