How (if at all) will C7 handle the coming real world wickedness of the Jack the Ripper murders, which took place in 1888?
Ignore completely or treat as a shadow rising in the underbelly of a pretty grim East End, with significant levels of social horror?

Thinking campaign ideas:
  • Buffalo Bill Cody’s Wild West Show opened in London in 1887. Something could have come over with him from the New World?
  • The first Sherlock Holmes novel was published. Based on? ( in this setting)
  • As above for both She and Allan Quartermain by Haggard
  • Queen Vic’s golden jubilee

Here is the drivethrurpg page for the 3rd edition of the game and all the adventures published for it.

I should also point out that the 3rd Ed is set in the 1850's, so this jump forward to the 1880's for the 5E OGL version will be new to everyone.

I mean, clearly he's an Eldritch Being and existed in 1850 as a different person altogether or he's a Mad Time Traveler who travels from 1850 to 1880 to preform an overcomplicated ritual that somehow involves making violent sacrifices in order to activate.

Maybe he's both or he's the future version of one of the PCs that accidently traveled to 1888 and it all went down hill from there.

You see, I'd go a different way:

Even if a 1888 London with magic and terrible monsters, Jack the Ripper is merely a human, a twisted, violent human. No excuse of being possessed, or dominated, or him being a powerful mage or a creature of the night. Just a basic human with evil in his heart.

To me, at least, this contrast makes the horror of it even worst.

I guess, even it is a bit anti-climatic that he gets taken out in one or two Eldritch Blasts.

I wonder how the game will include non-humans (elves, goblins, etc.) in the setting? Have they always been around, or is it recent ah la Shadowrun?
They've pretty much always been around. There are no "races" in the DnD sense. Instead everyone stems from humans, but there are different lineages that are somewhat analogous to fantasy races, like the Elderen and Khaldi. We'll have more articles soon diving into the details!

I am guessing it was just artistic license having both protagonists apparently be left-handed, as those are the hands that hold the pistols. But being left-handed was heavily suppressed in Europe and the US until some time into the 20th century, with people born left-handed being forced to learn to do everything with their right hand and to not use their left hand. I still like the cover, but being left-handed myself, that little thing really jumped out.
I’m left-handed* and I could care less, this is fantasy. Could be a “dark shadow” of the world, as you also might notice the clock is upside down (and tilted, the “5” is on top) Does look like an interesting RPG.

* as was my mom. I do remember her telling me how she got her hands rapped for writing with the wrong hand back in grade school, and her having a long discussion with my kindergarten teacher about that subject.

The 5 (or V) is at the top for Victoriana, and for 5th edition
