The awakened mind is the awakened mind, it isn’t the replacement for anything. The game doesn’t need a psionic class.
The game doesn't need fighters, wizards, clerics or rogues, either. There's no single class that it needs.
because they have found that all of their attempts to do so far have not been satisfying to the general audience, but psychic themed subclasses, spells, and feats did.
They found that all 1 attempt wasn't satisfying, and even that 1 attempt was unsatisfying for reasons other than psionics.

I don't think that's right. I think it goes to 41+, because as I showed earlier in the thread, you can hit 41+ with expertise and Guidance. The option to add or subtract 10 just makes the roll easier or harder.

You think it's a coincidence that that particular chart has a potential +10 and goes to 41+ when most stop much lower? I mean, you might be right, but... hey, we can settle this: Are there other sample DC charts that go to 41+?

Yep. I do think it's coincidence. If the +10/-10 were a part of the chart, it would also go to -9. The chart exists independent of the bonus and penalty. The bonus and penalty just make it easier or harder to hit the high numbers. As for not finding any other 41+ charts, you aren't going to find 30's either. They're all 21+ If the magic item chart went to 41+ due to the bonus, the bonus would have to be +20. +20 + 21+(the rest of the charts) = 41+.

There is a March book being announced tomorrow. Odds are it is relates to this UA, based on historic timing.
Ah Ty! If it has is tied to the UA think from most to least likely were looking at:

1. Generalised multiverse book.
2. Drastically altered Spelljammer (Crystal Spheres/Phlogiston gone for example) that nonetheless isn't quite Planesjammer.
3. Actual Planesjammer.
4. Spelljammer with non-drastic alterations and additions.

A plasmoid aberrant mind sorcerer for the extra slimy slime mold. And the ability to take all your gear with you through a 1" space...at 14th level.
At like level 4 or 6 that might be good, but it's something literally all Druids can do better than you, because they can turn into a mouse, which can fit through a 1/2" hole or a 1/4" crack, and take all their gear, and they can do it from level 2 (iirc).

By 14 you're going to have an awful lot of alternatives for getting one PC through something like that. So unless you have to keep going through tiny holes with one PC, fighting, then going through another one and so on, it's an ability outperformed by very low-level stuff.

Don't get me wrong, love everything about Plasmoids except their name, this doesn't seem particularly great. My wife will probably use them to play a Dragon Quest-style slime which will be delightful too

Me too. Y'see... my doppelganger character was killed last week. I've convinced my DM that it lived, but it's been totally destabilized. Now every time it tries to form up into a full humanoid, it just kinda can't quite get there.

This is a fun idea.

I was considering flavoring them as an Ooblex, I've been loving using those things as NPCs for a while now.

A lot of people have been wondering if it would be a rewrite of Star Frontiers... and after listening to a video on it, I can't say that it sounds like a bad idea. Quite a bit of fun 80's alien action.
