In today’s Unearthed Arcana, we explore character options from the Dragonlance setting. This playtest document presents the kender race, the Lunar Magic sorcerer subclass, the Knight of Solamnia and Mage of High Sorcery backgrounds, and a collection of new feats, all for use in Dungeons & Dragons.

Kender have a (surprisingly magical) ability to pull things out of a bag, and a supernatural taunt feature. This magical ability appears to replace the older 'kleptomania' description -- "Unknown to most mortals, a magical phenomenon surrounds a kender. Spurred by their curiosity and love for trinkets, curios, and keepsakes, a kender’s pouches or pockets will be magically filled with these objects. No one knows where these objects come from, not even the kender. This has led many kender to be mislabeled as thieves when they fish these items out of their pockets."

Lunar Magic is a sorcerer subclass which draws power from the moon(s); there are notes for using it in Eberron.

Also included are feats such as Adepts of the Black, White, and Red Robes, and Knights of the Sword, Rose, and Crown.

Their immunity to fear and resultant curiosity are 90% of what made them different. The remaining 10%, the kleptomania, is 90% of what made them obnoxious.
The kleptomania can go, but I do like the idea of a vest/bag/pouch full of assorted things they’ve picked up, collected or whatever is a good replacement. Just not “magically pulled from the Feywild” :blech:

Yup. Jean Rabes run, the age of….I can’t remember. Age of….mortals? The age where there were MEGA DRAGONS and WEIRD MOONS and MERCENARY SWORDSMEN WHO HAVE DRAGON SCALES IMBEDDED IN THEIR LEGS
THE FIFTH AGE! That was the name. There was a whole game centered around it. That was bugging me and I forgot I had google.

darjr

I crit!
Dragonlance does have some kind of Feywild like plane, and even something that resembles a Domain of Delight surprisingly.

WotC is making things with future possibilities in mind.

Why not to add more racial feats for kendes? Something about better saves against fear effect.

And a new class about dragons? A mixture of dracolyte (prestige class) and dragon shaman.

I think Witchlight/Domains of Delight will be the new-brand setting.

I wonder the theological impact of the warlocks for the age of the despair.

Maybe the psionic powers are discovered for the age of the mortals.

* WotC wants to publish things could be used by the DMs who would rather to create their own setting mixing from different sources.

I….. doubt it.

As much as I want it.
so both of those settings are all about connecting worlds and the spaces between so I dunno. I think step one is establish worlds, implying connections, and then we will get the whole unifying tie.

saying it this way makes sigil sound like it’s gonna be a space station (arguably looks like one)

or makes spelljammer/planescape Wotc’s version of Thanos

Something to mention, Tasslehoff (arguably our best (for better or worse) representation of the Kender race) was affected by dragonfear in the novels. Just was played less as “oh god run away” and more as “I uh I have decided I’m more curious about stuff over there WAY over there”. I always found that interesting.
