In today’s Unearthed Arcana, we explore character options from the Dragonlance setting. This playtest document presents the kender race, the Lunar Magic sorcerer subclass, the Knight of Solamnia and Mage of High Sorcery backgrounds, and a collection of new feats, all for use in Dungeons & Dragons.

Kender have a (surprisingly magical) ability to pull things out of a bag, and a supernatural taunt feature. This magical ability appears to replace the older 'kleptomania' description -- "Unknown to most mortals, a magical phenomenon surrounds a kender. Spurred by their curiosity and love for trinkets, curios, and keepsakes, a kender’s pouches or pockets will be magically filled with these objects. No one knows where these objects come from, not even the kender. This has led many kender to be mislabeled as thieves when they fish these items out of their pockets."

Lunar Magic is a sorcerer subclass which draws power from the moon(s); there are notes for using it in Eberron.

Also included are feats such as Adepts of the Black, White, and Red Robes, and Knights of the Sword, Rose, and Crown.

Heretic of The Seventh Circle
This stems back from the depiction of kender as child-like, being able to infuriate others with the child-like taunting. Personally, I'd jettison this idea entirely. Or maybe make it an optional feat that gives a bonus to a skill check. It's something learned, not something inherent.
I think without that trait, it isn’t worth even including the kender.

They're leaving it up to the DM and players because they are either too uncreative to come up with their own ideas, or too afraid of blowback to take a stab at it.
Or, more likely, because they're aware that most people use hombrew settings and scavenge setting books for usefule stuff and WotC is just actively catering to that crowd. But I'm sure that that's not as satisfying as "WotC makes Baby Jesus cry!"

Hey yeah, the order focused on illusions is now the order focused on the pursuit of truth. I kind of feel like the designers are now changing things just for the sake of it.
Yea, but that feels like a good change.

Yup. Jean Rabes run, the age of….I can’t remember. Age of….mortals? The age where there were MEGA DRAGONS and WEIRD MOONS and MERCENARY SWORDSMEN WHO HAVE DRAGON SCALES IMBEDDED IN THEIR LEGS
Whole thing kind of felt like FR spellplague where everything changed and was completely different and in the end they sort of said “whoops our bad never mind everything is mainly back to normal, minus one or two siblings who fight like all the time”
