RPG Print News – Goodman Games, Melsonian Arts Council, and More

Dungeons & Dragons has gross miniatures (one of which is a zombie clot, yuck), DCC has a new cover and new patron support and a post-apocalyptic setting, and AD&D gets more support via a gaming magazine. Troika! gets its own version of Hogwarts and PCs will have backgrounds like daughter of mischief and vrilmonger. GMs get world building and campaign management support with trackers and markers and Numenera has a supplement for traveling.

Zombie Clot | Bodytaker Plant | Greater Star Spawn Emissary | Unspeakable Horror by WizKids
  • SYSTEM: Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft
  • PRODUCT TYPE: single miniatures
  • RETAIL PRICE: $14.95/$14.95/$27.95/$29,95
  • DESCRIPTION: All of these miniatures sound disgusting or menacing or both. A zombie clot? That just sounds disgusting. What is that thing sticking out of its left fist? The bodytaker plant has slime dripping from an orifice and a I think a person stuck in its maw. It’s bad enough that the greater star spawn emissary is a fleshy triangle of tentacles but does it have to be greater than all the other star spawns? And how many emissaries do the star spawn really need? And it is so horrible that I don’t even want to talk about the unspeakable horror. So these miniatures should work great with D&D or other fantasy RPGs.

Dungeon Crawl Classics Core Rulebook (Stefan Poag Edition) | Angels, Daemons and Beings Between | The Umerican Survival Guide by Goodman Games
  • SYSTEM: DCC RPG
  • PRODUCT TYPE: hardcover books
  • RETAIL PRICE: $59.99/$40/$45
  • DESCRIPTION: Dungeon Crawl Classics is a d20 fantasy RPG built off of D&D 3.5 with nods to old school gaming (charts and weird dice). It is well known for interesting adventure modules with detailed maps as well as a gonzo feel to the world and art. Angels, Daemons, and Beings Between includes 24 new and fully developed patrons and demi-patrons as well as 66 new spells. Also has monstrous minions and new spellburn and patron taint tables Patrons. More than mere supernatural benefactors, the patrons are the schemers whose plots set worlds into motion. They are beings who amuse, enthrall, and terrify the PCs who dare to bargain with them! The Umerican Survival Guide describes a ruined world the PCs must overcome. Foretold in the ancient calendars, early in the 21st century a rogue object from deep space hurtled near the Earth and struck the Moon. Its impact caused catastrophic destruction around the globe, ripping the very fabric of time and space itself; yet mankind still survived. Centuries later, the planet is reborn ... a strange new place of alien wonder and death: a world ruled by savagery, cruel sorcery, and twisted science. Now is the time for the PCs to rise up and take their place in this perilous and untamed land.

I love DCC and I love that new cover art, but it's hard to justify buying a new copy of the core book for $60 when the copy I bought a few years ago for $40 is still in near-perfect condition.

I love DCC as well, but not as much as they love pitting out new covers.
Yeah: It's best that, for those who are new to DCC and haven't gotten a hardcover book yet of the main rules, is to just pick your fave cover and get that one. And there are a number of cool covers for the main DCC book.
