So is Planescape like, dead dead?
Why would you think Planescape is dead?

Those Spelljammers have to have destinations in the Astral after all, and Mount Celestia and the Nine Hells are as good a place as any for folks looking for adventure. And Sigil is going to show up again because Sigil is just a cool idea.

(Now is the Great Wheel as be-all end-all of the Outer Planes an idea that is dead in this edition? Time will tell. I suspect yes - that they'll adopt a more expansive approach to the Outer Planes and the Great Wheel will only be part of it, but we'll see).

From SOME. Others are more "classic" - e.g. Eberron and Ravenloft.

But I think the presentation is key: as a slip-case with three books of each of the three main product types (splat, setting, adventure), it is loudly declaring, "This is a hybrid product!" It is less ambiguous about it than, say, Strixhaven.
The adventure actually looks pretty short though. It's only 64 pages, and goes from 5-8. That's less adventure content than Stryxhaven.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the adventure takes characters from levels 5 to 8 - I think it's just for characters of levels 5-8. Which means it isn't necessarily a mini-campaign but just "an adventure" - which is also something of a throwback in some ways.

Given that there are 12 Modules in 64 pages, the Essentials Kit booklet Dragon of Icepire Peak is probably an apt comparison...but with more space travel.

True. That fits the timeline too of each taking a short D&D session, I ran those and each is about a session each.

If they do Planescape next year, with a similar format...I could see a return to the idea of the Modron March, giving a sort of tour of the Outer Planes in relation to Sigil.

It's not my favorite format, but yes I could see it. I'd probably prefer a book like Candlekeep Mysteries or Radiant Citadel, with a fairly beefy summary of a hub (Sigil) and then longer adventures going across the planes. But that's essentially Radiant Citadel, so I know that's not happening.

Well, on the other hand, it's pretty obvious now how Radiant Citadel and Spelljammer can play nicely together, with Citadel providing 15 different planets with 13 "Planet of the Week" Adventures, so...why not both?

As long as they get around to a "Planescape" book/slipcase set to cover Sigil and the Great Wheel properly, I'm perfectly fine with them opening up the Astral Plane/Sea to Spelljamming and exploring additional cosmological setups.

Oh I think the two make an EXCELLENT pair! I'll even use Ravenloft to hint at the worlds that the Domains of Dread stole from.
