D&D 5E 5E Survivor - Subclasses (Part VI: Fighters)

I find it funny how people down vote the easy choices instead of eliminating the others which might actually be competition at the end.
And this is why we get so many mediocre survivor winners. People so afraid of competition for their personal favorite that all the good choices get knocked out early.

I looked at the other winners. I don't think Totem Warrior or Lore Bard is mediocre. I mean I don't have many books for 5E so I don't know much about a lot of the options, but I always thought both of those subclasses were pretty good. Tempest is okay, but I like Knowledge and War more.

In my defense, up until literally the last day of the Druid competition, Land was barely holding on and Stars was killing it, right up at the top. I had hoped for Wildfire but was cool with Stars. Then, in the span of like three hours, Land went from "almost dead" to "currently winning," while Stars got an almost unmitigated stream of downvotes taking it from leader of the pack to dead.

So like...I was doing exactly what you said, shooting down the ones I didn't want to see and propping up the one I did. It didn't end up mattering, because people dogpiled my backup preference extremely suddenly and then gunned for my main preference immediately thereafter, while making a rapid and dramatic reversal of fortune for one I had opposed from the very beginning. Hard to see how I, or anyone else, could have meaningfully done things differently when Stars had such a precipitous fall and Land such a narrow recovery.

And I'm doing now what I did then. Opposing the bland, dull choices and building up the ones I find at least moderately interesting. I would love to be able to vote for a non-magical Fighter, but all the options either suck to some degree or are dropped Next playtest material, so...yeah. I wouldn't be totally upset if Battle Master won, but I wouldn't be happy either.

Because a lot of people wanted Land and not Stars (or Wildfire)? Or I imagine Land might have been a second or third choice for many (like Stars was for you).

Despite what people claim, the old and "boring" subclasses are still enjoyed. I only have the PHB, and I haven't been playing long, so they are "new" to me, but I imagine when other people first started playing they played the PHB and enjoyed them.

It seems like votes, like myself, will try to keep those choices going as long as possible, while trying to take down all the others. Like I said, I am going to downvote whatever is leading to keep it as close as possible.

Eldritch Knight 23
Knight 20
Monster Hunter 20
Psi Warrior 13
Purple Dragon Knight 16
Rune Knight 22-2 = 20 not just a magic fighter subclass, but a magic fighter subclass that has nothing to do with knightood, almost nothing to do with runes, a messy hodge-podge of vaguely gianty abilities that are so poorly conceived that the Hill Gianty one is the most powerful, and besides, D&Ds take on giants is rubbish anyway and shouldn't be encouraged. I can't vote this one down hard enough.
