WotC Dragonlance: Everything You Need For Shadow of the Dragon Queen

WotC has shared a video explaining the Dragonlance setting, and what to expect when it is released in December.

World at War: Introduces war as a genre of play to fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons.

Dragonlance: Introduces the Dragonlance setting with a focus on the War of the Lance and an overview of what players and DMs need to run adventures during this world spanning conflict.

Heroes of War: Provides character creation rules highlighting core elements of the Dragonlance setting, including the kender race and new backgrounds for the Knight of Solamnia and Mage of High Sorcery magic-users. Also introduces the Lunar Sorcery sorcerer subclass with new spells that bind your character to Krynn's three mystical moons and imbues you with lunar magic.

Villains: Pits heroes against the infamous death knight Lord Soth and his army of draconians.

Notes --
  • 224 page hardcover adventure
  • D&D's setting for war
  • Set in eastern Solamnia
  • War is represented by context -- it's not goblins attacking the village, but evil forces; refugees, rumours
  • You can play anything from D&D - clerics included, although many classic D&D elements have been forgotten
  • Introductory scenarios bring you up to speed on the world so no prior research needed

He said he wasn't powerful/strong enough to cast it, so he was saying he wasn't high enough level. I can't remember if the module put him at 3rd or 4th level when the group met back up at the Inn of the Last Home.
DL1 has him at 3rd level.

Edit: which I always found odd because Caramon was 6th level in DL1. Considering they were inseparable, you'd think they'd be closer in level.

Eventually people are going to realize that every present(setting) put out by WotC is identical, just wrapped(lore) differently and stop buying the settings. It was the uniqueness. The things not present on Krynn, Athas, etc. that made those settings interesting and worthwhile.
the one I am looking forward to more is DS but I will try Krynn first 1/3 of what I want is (slightly) updated lore. (time line map ext) the mechanics I want (some it looks like we will get some we wont) are the tower of High Sorcery and what it means to be each color. The moons and how they effect magic, updated 5e stats for some monsters (undead, drocnions, maybe some new dragons) and some NPCs (mostly villains) some magic items (say dragon lances, the arm the hammer to make said lances) I want the knightly orders.

I don't need a "don't play X race" I don't think of that as what make Dragon lance dragon lance...

Darksun I give more a pass too... the fluff GIVES a reason to restrict "why aren't there orcs" "this guy a long time ago was a monster who committed the most successful genocide" I want rules for templars (I liked 4e making them dragon king pact warlock) I want half dwarf (but if 5,5 shows the way that will just be pick human or dwarf) I want defiling and preserving and I want a more robust psionic system

Sure, but you also don't have to buy the setting that they release without something or other in it. There are plenty of kitchen sink settings to pick from.
Can you tell me with a straight face that Eberron, Spelljammer and Ravenloft are all identical settings?

I rushed out and bought the 5e Spelljammer setting, and got burned on the amount of setting information/lore that it gave me. If DL is 224 pages and includes a setting with a war focus and a major adventure, it's probably going to be even more sparse.

From the OP, "Dragonlance: Introduces the Dragonlance setting with a focus on the War of the Lance and an overview of what players and DMs need to run adventures during this world spanning conflict."

I don't have high hopes for what it will offer. :(

If DL is the same as or even more sparse than Spelljammer, I will actively not want them to do Dark Sun. I'd rather it not be ruined.

A one off half-orc I wouldn't care about in DL. There would be no orcs in my game, but if a player wanted a half-orc I'd figure out a way to make it happen. There are no warforged in the Forgotten Realms, but one of my current players is running a warforged college of swords bard.
I'd want the new races and none of the old ones. Athasian elves, athasian dwarves, muls, half-giants, etc. And yes, a more robust psionic system.
