WotC Dragonlance: Everything You Need For Shadow of the Dragon Queen

WotC has shared a video explaining the Dragonlance setting, and what to expect when it is released in December.

World at War: Introduces war as a genre of play to fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons.

Dragonlance: Introduces the Dragonlance setting with a focus on the War of the Lance and an overview of what players and DMs need to run adventures during this world spanning conflict.

Heroes of War: Provides character creation rules highlighting core elements of the Dragonlance setting, including the kender race and new backgrounds for the Knight of Solamnia and Mage of High Sorcery magic-users. Also introduces the Lunar Sorcery sorcerer subclass with new spells that bind your character to Krynn's three mystical moons and imbues you with lunar magic.

Villains: Pits heroes against the infamous death knight Lord Soth and his army of draconians.

hence the ‘what is up with’ or whatever it was, ie asking for the reason, which I assume no one currently has (and likely no one will get in the book either…), so we instead get ‘mustache silly’ and ‘what if you cannot grow one’
@DarkCrisis wasn't simply saying "what's up with them changing it", he made assumptions about the rest of the book because of this minor change. He even said "it's just change for the sake of change" with no evidence to support his claim.

It's a valid observation that they aren't including mustaches in the artwork that we've seen so far. Not that they're ruining the setting.
 



So you object to Theros suggesting that you should by default use only specific races?
Theros is not a D&D setting. It is an Ancient Greek-inspired setting that was designed for M:tG, and then got converted to D&D 5e. Someone assuming that it would have all of the standard D&D options would be mistaken. It has different themes, monsters, races, and character archetypes. There's nothing to hint that it has any connection to the rest of the D&D universe. And even with all of that context, it still has ways to include other races if the DM allows it (Nyxborn, Anvilwrought, planeswalkers from other M:tG worlds).

Dragonlance is a D&D setting. It has most of the main D&D races, monsters, archetypes, and themes. It was designed to be a D&D world, so it should change to suit modern D&D. It's also been connected with the broader D&D universe through Spelljammer. It also has ways to explain the origins of races in the world (the gods, the Greygem, etc).

Speaking of lack of facial hair. So I arrive to pick up my son from school today and he says, "Mr. Lee came into the class today. On his face he has, well it's not a beard. It's like what you have on your face." 🤦‍♂️

I had to explain to him that short beards are still beards. LOL

It is a D&D setting. That it came to D&D from MtG doesn't change that.
Dragonlance is a D&D setting.
Dragonlance is originally a D&D setting, much the same way that Theros was originally an MtG setting. If MtG makes a set of cards that is Dragonlance in the same way that they made a Forgotten Realms set, then that set will be an MtG set, not a D&D setting. The origin/inspiration doesn't change that.
 

But doesn’t that mean, by your facial hair example, that only human men ;and dwarves I suppose) can be Knights of Solamnia? If a knight must have a moustache, then that follows right?

You have to understand it that after the cataclysm the world was fairly divided. Humans make up the majority of Solomnia. Most dwarves and elves etc kept to their own countries.

Not to mention the Knights have/had a fairly extensive religious doctrine. A worshiper of the dwarf god probably wouldn’t want to change religions to join a sect of mostly human knights.
