when they see that it won't, they will try to do damage control.

maybe we'll see some evasion in:

A disgruntled employee, whose contract is now terminated, leaked intentionally wrong documents to damage company's name and reputation.

I think if they were going to go the disgruntled employee route they would have done so by now. Honestly at this point my non-existent money is on one of the two (or variation thereof) happening

1. They walk back 1.1 after spouting BS that they truly listen to their fans. Or
2. They try and sugar coat it as much as possible.

Either route will be filled with honeyed words and half-truths and I should double up on my insulin before reading the press release.

Every piece will be damage control and mitigation on their part.

But I hope I'm wrong.

That's one heck of a disgruntled employee who was able to send the "fake" document, together with "fake" contracts to sign to multiple companies...

Seriously: they think WotC is perfectly within their rights to change the license.

I also think that WOTC is perfectly within their rights to change it, but I don't agree on the how and why they've done so. just because it's legal for a company to do something doesn't make it moral.

And I agree with @Ruin Explorer that the choice of words OA is using makes me feel very much like they've read an overview and haven't done much research or thought beyond the initial implications.

I work in sales, I can send an e-mail to every company that we work with with 3 clicks.
it's not that hard if you have access to company database.

most of the time it's just changing dates and maybe few key sentences.

just get hold of a current contract and edit what you need to edit.

I'm not saying that they will go with it, just saying that it's a possibility and that it's relatively easy to do if you want to do it.

We're mainly waiting until the 13th which is the date the draft license says it comes into force. But we have started making other plans already. They did say on Twitter they would be saying something soon.

Yes, changing the text is easy. Taking the decision to send a fake contract on "behalf" of the company you are working for, seems not so easy a choice. Actually it seems really reckless. That's the point I'm making.
