Legend
It's one of the low-points of the season, creatively. At least the flying cgi Vision fight evolved into a philosophical debate.
It didn't bother me because I saw it coming. As soon as Agatha explained to Wanda about the anti-spellcaster sigils in her basement, I knew the finale would involve Wanda turning that trick back on her on the scale of the entire Hex.

I think love and thunder suffered from Jane not being in previous movies. They had to reintroduce her, showcase their romance, her becoming lady Thor, her struggle with cancer, and her departure all in one movie when it wasn't even the central plot. Her story would have been better addressed in a Lady Thor show, giving you time to see her find out, learn to deal with it, go to Asgard etc. without it being rushed flashbacks.
That's a really good point!

I think with all that Jane stuff - which I'm all in favor of - the Gorr stuff gets minimalized. I recall a point in a the movie where we see him again after lots of other stuff happened and thinking "oh yeah - this guy!"

Funny my wife watched it and thought it was dreadful (to be fair she isn't much of a fan of the Marvel movies either).

It's not a fun watch. It should come with trigger warnings for depression, self-harm, and implied physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. I totally get why someone would not enjoy it.

But it is a perfect movie. Not a wasted shot or line of dialogue. The actors, all of them even the ones with only a few lines of dialogue, were brilliant. Cinematography, editing, production design, everything just pitch perfect. And despite the bleakness of the story there are many moving, uplifting, and humorous moments.

Biological Disaster
Eternals felt like it would have worked a lot better as a mini series. MoM and Love & Thunder were character assassinations of Wanda and Thor and mediocre movies besides (pretty though). The three spider-mans movie was nothing but shallow fanservice that feels awkward as hell to watch outside of a theatre because there's so many pauses for the audience to cheer or whatever, but I still enjoyed the three of them interacting. Shang-Chi was great, despite the giant monster CGI boss battle ending. Black Widow was probably the most overall enjoyable.

Still haven't seen Wakanda Forever or the new Ant-Man. Will probably watch WF for that gorgeous visual design (and hunk-Namor) at some point, dunno if I'll bother with Ant-Man.

The Ship of Theseus stuff was great. It didn't require a CGI battle, though.
I don't know, I thought the story set up that Vision versus Vision was plausibly going to happen.

I also saw a lot of gaming parallels.

This is a fight, but it is really tough to win a straight up mirror of opposition fight alone through evenly matched brute force mechanics, so think up an alternative if you can.

3e - speaking is a free action in a fight and I think I have figured out a RAW workaround to the specific wording of the suggestion/dominate/charm command effect . . .

4e - Skill challenges can go on in the middle of a fight :)

Wakanda Forever is pretty good. It's gorgeous, and Namor is really interesting (and makes the Aquaman movie look even more cheesy), but the whole thing has an understandable pall over it that it never quite escapes.
