Those are the main ones that come to my mind.What tactical elements would you say are common to shmup craft? I have a cannon, bombs, and force fields. Different specific shmups have different variations (like a combat drone that circles your ship and fires the same things you do at the same time) but would people agree those are the basic elements common to almost all shmups?
I am using Hero System, since I've been using it for over 30 years and am very fluent in it! Also, my home group prefers it. But they're easy to translate to a lot of systems. My plan was to start with a generic craft, and then tweak for the various craft. This is the list I compiled, I'm only doing the ones I highlighted because I was able to find "stats" for those.Those are the main ones that come to my mind.
The idea sounds rad. Personally, I would use Savage Worlds and just design the ships the same way you would make characters, just tweaked to match a ship of course. I would also have a top down, gridded board to move the ship around for sure. Oh, and maybe use static damage values instead of random?
