One person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist. It all depends on who's holding the camera (presenting the story).
Yes, and I think the show tries to paint them in an ambiguous way. I find them to be very machiavelian. “It doesn’t matter how an what we are doing, as long as it reaches our altruistic goals.”

It's because the flora and fauna there keep killing everyone.

We have no big land predators here though (barring the Saltwater Crocodiles up North). Snakes are your main worry.

That's what always gets me about hiking and camping in the USA. 'Oh that's right... they have Bears and Lions here...'.

Started Season 2 Today. I was ready for it, but it still hit hard. I think the violence and revenge themes will hit appropriately that failed to in the video game experience.
Huh...I think the series works because it almost lives up to the standard of the game. Part 2, in particular, is a masterpiece, IMO.

It’s a great story, I had a bit of an issue with the violence of the cut scenes hitting correctly after the copious amounts of violence in the gameplay. YMMV

I love how so much of Part 2 is told from Abby's perspective - I think that's what makes the revenge theme hit so hard. From her perspective, Joel is a monster, and it's not like she doesn't have a point. Having the player play from her PoV was a bold choice and I love it!

Oh I loved it too. Though numerous times with the back and fourth we see folks get humanized and then horrified as they are killed. Although, its all dulled by the fact you kill scores of people in-between those contextual cut scenes. Its an odd dis-junction between the video game medium and storytelling. I liked it, it just didnt have the impact I think it otherwise would have. Which I think it will have for viewers of the show that have no video game experience.

Joel's death certainly hit my spouse hard; I didn't warn them it was coming.
