Mando season 3

OK, they should just give the whole show to Bryce. She just gets it in a way that John doesn’t seem to be able to.

Also, I never thought I would see Jack Black in Star Wars. I am much relieved that he didn’t overplay his hand as he is sometimes wont to do.

But not just Jack – Lizzo and Christopher Lloyd as well?! What is this?!

Finally some awesome as Mandalorian action.

And now Bo not only has her fleet back but also the darksaber! Time for a Bo-Katan / Moff Gideon rematch, methinks!

Seriously, though, Bryce is the best. They need to give her more Star Wars stuff to direct!

Episode 6 definitely had a lot of odd moments, and I wouldn't say it all worked for me 100%, but they really didn't hold back with any out-there ideas on this one.

I liked seeing it turn into a sci-fi buddy cop show for the middle of the episode, even if it was an odd and abrupt turn. And even though I'm not much of a prequel fan, I still appreciated prequel "fan service" as it's nice to see the prequels and their elements and lore better integrated into the rest of Star Wars.

I was also pleased to see that they didn’t split up Bo and Din. They’ve got good chemistry. I particularly enjoyed their good cop / bad cop routine in the droid bar.

Did she write it or just execute it? If the basic premise is poodu the director won't make much difference.

Same. Those were folks I would have never thought to associate with Star Wars. And the folks who expressed their thoughts about the battle on Mandalore turned out to be right. Made sense. I expect that the whole Mythosaur thing will also play out.

This episode other than the ugnaught stuff was pretty poor . Clearly I’m not the intended audience as it was campy and might be up there with the Xmas episode from years ago
I have no problem with the casting of Lizzo or black or Lloyd it was just the performances and the plot and everything. At one point I was expecting the super battle droid to maybe an alien hiding in it to show why it acted that way
At one point I felt bad for Kate sackoff (train scene) as the dialogue was made from a 3 year old
I love a good cop show however this was more like “the other guys” as opposed to law&order/hill street blues/blue bloods etc and I would put the jar jar phantom menace garbage up against the writing etc in this 1

Yeah this was an absolutely great episode, frankly, and "got" Star Wars in a way that the Mandalorian doesn't always (though sometimes does), and that Boba Fett absolutely never did.

I was astonished that Favreau was involved in the writing, because it's a completely different style to most of his stuff, at once lighter and a bit more nuanced.

Cast was great too Lizzo, Jack Black, Christopher Lloyd, damn.

It was just very noticeably different in style to normal - and yes - better directed. Or at least significantly more interestingly directed. I tend to suspect there was some considerable deviation from the script, or that Howard used the lines, but in a very different way - you'll notice there were a huge number of scenes where stuff that wasn't really being commented on by the characters was going on, and which may well originate with the ideas of the director.

Her previous episode was also pretty strong - the one which introduced Bo Katan.

Obviously that was intentional - Din particularly was leaning in to a lot of "bad cop" tropes - and yes it was more of a parody of a cop show than an actual cop show - in part because they're not cops, they're just hired thugs/adventurers. The writing/directing didn't screw up - they did it on purpose. It was quite funny, and it meant to be.

Comparing it to Jar Jar/TPM just shows ignorance and superficiality re: understand of and attitudes to writing on your part. It's like when people say any journalism they don't like is "blogging", even if it's not remotely true. The dialogue and the wit involved in this were at a far higher level than anything in the Prequel Trilogy achieved. Hell, the directing and action were a lot better too.
They throw all the scripts into the middle of the table then the directors fight for them. Bryce has the sharpest elbows.
This is now my headcanon and I would totally believe it.
Loved the detail of the Quarren ship at the start, especially the captain's station, and the opener alone felt like it was part of an epic tale all of its own.
I feel like Quarren/Mon Calamari Romeo & Juliet has been kind of referenced before in the EU, but it was very funny to see it on screen, and also helped build the characterisation of the Mandalorian mercs (as being reasonable and polite, not wildly aggressive or anything, which was interesting).

So what Star Wars would you compare it to?What’s the closest comparison to this particular episode .

So now that Bo-Katan has got her followers back, is she supposed to convince them to join the cultists on Nevarro and never remove their helmets?

The Armorer told Bo that all Mandalorians must walk the Way together, but then she let Bo take her helmet off, so it’s all a bit unclear.

With only two episodes left, I suspect we’ll see the combined Mandalorian forces head to Mandalore, where Moff Gideon and his forces will be waiting and there will (hopefully) be an epic showdown.
