D&D (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

The weapons table from the upcoming Unearthed Arcana playtest for One D&D has made its way onto the internet via Indestructoboy on Twitter, and reveals some new mechanics. The mastery traits include Nick, Slow, Puncture, Flex, Cleave, Topple, Graze, and Push. These traits are accessible by the warrior classes.

Yes, make it more prevalent. Like a feat or something.

Obvious design space. Makes a statement about HP, attacks and how the game works. Needs to happen.
I get the feeling you have grossly misunderstood my post.
Perhaps deliberately.

I do not want, need, or expect a missed attack roll to inflict damage of any kind, in any way, and the more prevalent they make it, the harder I will have to work to remove it with house-rules. Eventually, I would end up just playing the current edition of D&D instead of switching to the new one.

Clearly.

I do. Because not having it actively makes the game worse in a lot of ways, including fostering certain ideas about how HP, attacks and abstraction in general work in the game.

Writing it out didn't work, so it's time to aggressively bake it into the system.

Different ranges, but otherwise Ray of Frost is superior within range unless there are additional factors.
With greatswords the "additional factors" are abilities that allow reroll 1s &2s or those that make them simply roll up to a 2 or 3. It makes a significant impact on the average

Sure, at the cost of those abilities.

Edit:
For those who can't stand the idea of non-casters getting damage on a miss, consider just replacing it with bonus accruing bonus damage on future hits.

I mean, no: +1 is a passable rule of thumb when estimating what you can do on one roll, but it becomes complicated over the course of a full AdvenDay with Wxtra Attack. On a slow day for a Level 5 Fighter, there is huge potential swing between 15d8 and 15d10: eventually, for a high Level Fighter with all 4 Extra Attacks....? It can add up big.
Quite the contrary. The more rolls you make, the closer the difference is going to get to the average, which is +1. On any given roll the difference might be more or less, but over the course of a campaign you’re going to make enough rolls that the overall difference it made is going to approach pretty near the average of +1 damage per hit.
