Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

It will be interesting to see an Indiana Jones movie that isn't directed by Steven Spielberg. For my money, even in the worst entries in the franchise, Spielberg directing Ford as Indiana Jones is 100% solid gold. I worry no one else will be able to capture what Spielberg does from that performance, but hopefully Mangold will capture something similar or equally worth watching for me.

Well, this looks and sounds A) like the final hurrah for Indiana Jones and B) pretty darn good!

Please no pop music in the final film, though, other than as diegetic stuff we hear as Indy moves through the world.

Harrison Ford can carry even a bad movie, so I will probably watch regardless, but the trailer does look good. I still say the dial of destiny takes the cake for bad titles :). Not as bad as the Clicker of Chaos or the Door Knob of Destruction, but up there

Also: no Shia LaBeouf !?!?! The fans are enraged

I'm not particularly sold on the time-travel-gadget premise of the movie. Feels like it has the potential to combine Forrest Gump, Kill Hitler and Save JFK in all the worst ways - alternatively it'll just be an Indiana Jones Greatest Hits compilation going back through the most iconic bits of the previous movies.

I'm assuming that, once they get it, they're going to discover it either doesn't work at all, or using it has such a high cost that they won't actually want to use it the way they had intended to.

Hopefully they don’t go the kill Hitler route (that can be fun but Tarantino already did it perfectly and I think it would be more interesting to go another direction). If they are going that way, I’d rather see them chase him through time only to end up killing him hiding in South America in the year the movie starts in

Time travel plots are tricky so who knows. It could be really good or really bad
