Given that Harrison Ford is just one of multiple actors to play Indiana Jones, I'm in favor of them doing new, Ford-free films at some point, but there should be no hurry on that. Wait a decade or more.
One of my many heresies is that as much as I like Harrison Ford, I like the Relic Hunter and Romancing the Stone alot better then Indiana Jones or Laura Croft.
Yeah, once he's dead the coast will be clear. Until then, they can put the franchise on hiatus.Given that Harrison Ford is just one of multiple actors to play Indiana Jones, I'm in favor of them doing new, Ford-free films at some point, but there should be no hurry on that. Wait a decade or more.
And Willow was never a strong brand, was a movie that was mostly good viewed through the lens of nostalgia and then the TV series kind of proved that, yeah, there's not much to it. (Same issue with the Dark Crystal series.) It would be exceedingly weird if they had kept going with Willow.
If I were Lucasfilm, I'd be trying to develop Grim Fandango and Full Throttle films or TV shows.

... gotta be better than Crystal Skull, right?
...right?
While I'm still Team Indiana Jones, Romancing the Stone is a sharper movie than most people give it credit. Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner have great chemistry. The action sequences thrill. And that's not even mentioning Danny DeVito (Romancing the Stone, Ruthless People, and Twins are pretty much my DeVito trifecta - not that Batman Returns isn't outstanding, but there are so many eye-catching performances in it).
Romancing the Stone (just the original) is very strong.
Rewatched it recently and really enjoyed it. One after is only ok.
Disney made back the 4 billion they spent buying Lucasfilm a while ago. They've made a substantial profit off of Star Wars alone. And whether or not the Indiana Jones movie is going to be good, people will see it, and it will make money. Corporations almost never sell studios or IP that are still making them money. Even if the movies they make with that IP are lackluster, to say the least. If I was Disney I'd be looking to sell Lucasfilms.
