Did you honestly expect anyone to bother with an argument over box office results before there were any box office results to argue over?

I'm not sure what your point is? I just mean that people expected John Wick 4 to make more money at cinemas. It's not like it's not doing well on a $100m budget, it's doing incredible, it's just they expected it to do incredible-r.

Ni but they could have mentioned there's other factors to consider. Had over a month to bring that up.

I'm not ignoring those other factors due to bias but because we dont have access to
any figures and it's not what I'm discussing in any event.

it doesn’t really matter why you exclude these factors as long as you are clear that doing so affects your result, esp. wrt turning a profit.

If you just wanted to measure which movie did better overall and used the box office numbers to extrapolate to the overall picture I’d say you are probably reasonably close.

On a 3-day basis it’s close to a three-way tie for second place between Amazon’s Air ($14.4M as of Sunday), Paramount/eOne’s Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves ($14.5M second weekend, -61%, $62.2M cume) and Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 4 ($14.6M third weekend, -48%, $147M cume).

It's still right in the middle of flop/hit from a box office perspective, but we also know that the PHB is back in the top 100 of books and the licensed merch is flying off the shelves.
