It's measured in HP, Spell Slots/Points are based on hit dice.
So you're saying that 5e, like everything else, is suffering from inflation?

Warlocks can’t cast Fireball…?So... you think that its balanced for a 5th warlock to be able to cast 8 fireballs per day? That seems a little excessive to me, and probably will result in asking "why would anyone play sorcerer when they could warlock it and get more high level spells?"
Maybe. But HP is the underlying mathematical basis of every ability or feature in the game.So you're saying that 5e, like everything else, is suffering from inflation?
Sure. I mean, I'm totally fine with power equivalency and reskinning (I'm a 4e fan, after all), but I'd also be fine with spells having a stronger fictional identity and only being used by a few classes.Oh, I know that my preferences will never be fully explored in a modern version of D&D.
That said, I still was hoping that they would at least move away from the spell-equivalency system, and more toward "spells are for casters (FULL CASTERS), and other classes and species get abilities and other things ... not spells."
But if wishes were horses .... um, well, I'd avoid ordering the meatballs at Ikea, that's for sure.
relying on short rests is broken, I much prefer the new version which does notThe class wasn’t broken. On the contrary, it was easily the best-designed class in the game, so much so that everyone and their mother based all their homebrew classes’ progression structures on it.
Fiend and Genie pact can. I default to Fiend simply because... well... name.Warlocks can’t cast Fireball…?
I would probably cap it to 2-3 recharges per day, but I mean, warlocks can already do that now.So... you think that its balanced for a 5th warlock to be able to cast 8 fireballs per day? My personal ideal is that spells would be treasure, but the game definitely isn't going to drift in that direction.
What exactly stops you from doing so?You can’t or at least won’t be able to play a 2014 class in a 2024 PHB game most times. I don’t know why people find it hard to understand.
