Sure. If you have some means of hitting the DCs then by all means go for it.
okay now remember the highest DC is 30 and someone with a 18 stat prof and expertise in a skill/tool at level 9+ has a +4 stat +4 prof and +4 expertise for a +12 so they can hit ANY DC in that at a 18+
imagine if I have a bard around to give me +1d8 insperation and +1d4 guidence for 1d20+1d8+1d4+12 vs a DC between 5 and 30

Okay since I am swinging my sword can add my Str instead of int and use prof from my sword?

The DM has great latitude in ruling what occurs in such an instance; the greater the wish, the greater the likelihood that something goes wrong.

As much as I despise its existence for how much it dominates perceptions on Caster capabilities, even I never actually banned it precisely because of this line.

"Congrats, you managed to somehow hit a 30 Arcana Check. Your sword swishes about in the air and nothing happens. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you feel your grandmothers disappointment".

Great. You built a great a character and your teams pitching in to help. Thats...what we want lmao

@Yaarel , what do you gleam for your poll data so far.
My current impressions are:

• Fighter is a useful, versatile, enjoyable, and popular class.
• Players use the Fighter class in very different ways.
• There are about as many "old school" nonmagical Fighters as there are Monks.
• A significant segment − roughly 30% − never see this kind of nonmagical Fighter.
• The Fighter has already become the magical, "gish", "wuxia", "mythic" warrior for many players.

Currently, by this poll, about 2/3s of the groups see a nonmagical fighter by your rather strict definition. That, to me, is a huge number given all the options available. I don't think there is any other strict combination of class & subclass that would come close to meeting that threshold, but I could be wrong. So, what does that mean to you? Do this prove or debunk your hypothesis so far?
Certainly, the nonmagical Fighter enjoys popularity − and is iconic − and is appropriate for 50th anniversary edition.

The surprise is, this kind of Fighter is irrelevant for very many players today.
