I watch the local news once a day usually. Yesterday I'm half watching/listening, half thinking about my life, but its that other .001% that occupies your mind. So Im watching the news yesterday morning and there was an attempted car jacking at Wegmans. My ear perked up, commercial came on, and I thought to myself, "watch it be the one on Orchard Park Rd?". It was. 6 punks tried to carjack a 75 y/o man and he kicked one square in the bean bag then they all ran. 20 minutes later 5 out of 6 were in custody. Its hilarious actually, They interviewed a bystander and asked what he would do, he said "I'd whip their ass." I love my city.

It's cool that I knew exactly what you were talking about, without living there. We get a lot of Buffalo TV stations here.

I just listened to that song and I couldnt stop thinking how true every 4th line was. He says something like ..."even the busses get stuck in snow" I couldnt stop laughing. And FFS, he takes Norwood to task in that song and Norwood shouldvemade that kick. Thats what you are paid for. NOW! Brett Hull OTOH has openly admitted, "Yeah, my skate was in the crease", and on the anniversary every year he sends a cake to the Sabres locker room. That was the year they lost to the Dallas Stars, Pantera played the after party at someones house and someone jumpedd off the garage into the swimming pool with Lord Stanleys Cup and dented the hell out of it. As the story goes, when they woke up the next morning. they found it in the bottom of the pool.

Speaking of Pantera...Buffalo is Snake Bitten
Horton died after losing control of his De Tomaso Pantera sports car on the Queen Elizabeth Way in St. Catharines, Ontario, in the early morning of February 21, 1974

The cup has been dumped in a pool (more than once), lost in a lake, dumped in a bonfire, and I don't know how many other things.

As to sports teams, Toronto doesn't seem to know how to win many championships. They win, then rely on merchandising to make all their money for the rest of history.

Ever hear the story of the Canadiens winning the cup in the 50s"?" they got drunk with the cup then called a cab, as they were getting in the cab and it drove away, they left it on the corner. Pretty sure they realized and went back to get it before anyone noticed. Think it was in NYC

I heard that they got a flat and then accidentally left it at the side of the road after fixing it.

I heard they took it to Toronto and left it in the middle of the road, because they knew that people in Toronto would never be able to see the Stanley Cup.
I've seen it at the university where I work, in downtown Toronto, and the Hockey Hall of Fame is just down the street. I pass it every day when I go in to work ;) My uni now owns what used to be Maple Leaf Gardens, now known as the Mattamy Athletic Centre.

The Leafs will likely never win it again, though.
