My players ran into a slaad. They saw it in the distance, on a cliff edge, and it was painting something on an easel.

When they got closer, they could see it was painting them watching it paint them, in greater detail then it could have seen from the distance. And some of the characters had weird or ominous changes, like the void touched wizard had a starry outline. They also did not like the fact that the paladin's head was painted as if it was on fire and half burnt.

They tried to buy the painting. The slaad said "No thanks, I don't care for some, I already have any" and disappeared. They left the painting on the cliff edge as they were scared to touch it.
Well played, indeed.

Well yeah cause you can't be pleased, by your many posts in the recent years.

You hate any changes that are made, and despite any breaks with tradition.
Many products on DMsGuild please me, and allowing these great 3pps to publish such content is the only thing of value to me that WotC has done for a good while at this point.

Also, a little unnecessarily personal there.

Personally, as a player, I think an Adventure is the best way to introduce a setting. I’m not a DM, I’m not going to read a 120+ page setting guide. No thank you!
are you as a player reading the adventure? I would assume that players get introduced to a setting through playing an adventure either way, whether the DM created it themselves based on a setting guide, or because they play a WotC published adventure.
