D&D (2024) Predictions for Playtest packet 7's arrival

I hope so! Guess that would leave October with just the Monk and Feats, unless they have a surprise for us.
I would think with the return to class spell lists instead of Arcane/Divine/Primal, they’d want to give bard, cleric, druid, paladin, and ranger one final pass in October. Or at least just bard, since the last version we saw had several features dependent on the three shared lists.

Well, here's what it seems we re looking at:

Packet 7 in August: next iteration of material from Packet 5, which they just discussed in a video

Packet 8 in October: next iteration of material from Packet 6

Packet 9 in December: final loose ends given one more shot

Then we may get a couple tests of MM and DMG stuff early on next year.

They did not say arcane, primal and divine list are completely out. Maybe they are retained for the bard magical secrets and the magic initiate feat to limit access to some class specific spells.

I wager bard and monk get one more pass, but anything else will be dependent on if it can be tinkered with in post (fixing math) or if reverting to 2014 solves the problem. Unless there is a major bomb hiding, they are mostly done with ranger, rogue, cleric and druid (and paladin if they revert divine smite).

I think the last packet will be any cleanup on feats, spells and maybe even species. No major, just tinkering. They don't need a lot feedback to fix a spell or feat.

I am hoping we'll see a fuller and revised list of the starter feats (and other feats too) somewhere in here. I think they are done with races (though I would like another pass on them as well). But a revision on starter feats could help lead to improvements.

The video about play test 5 seems to imply 7 is revisiting those classes, but I'm surprised we haven't seen a second pass on feats, aside from new ones and the new 19th level rule on ASI. They iterated more on epic feats and then gave up.
Indeed. There have been so many passes on the epic feats that you'd think tier5 one shots were the only way anyone ever plays.

Strikes me that Packet 9 could be a full, final set of all proposed changes before they go into the final private playtesamd balancing phase. Or just a zoom in on Feats and Species stuff (like, the last chance to finalize their new language).

I think the new Species options are pretty set, but they may want to do another pass at the language, ancestors they have hinted Species is still up in the air as a term.
