The food club goes to 'Villa Roma', est. 1987.

:: deep sigh while looking at the latest updating of the menu :::

"Why are you so stuck on everyone having to order Italian food here?"

"I didn't say that. It started off serving only home made spaghetti and ravioli back when - that's what drew me to the place. So pasta and pizza seem on theme, and I'd like them to still have a variety of it and do a good job of it?"

"Things change. Why can't Italians like stir fry, curry, hamburgers, and burritos? Why does every place need to serve plain old pasta and pizza?!?! There are plenty of places with those you could switch to! Let fans of other things have what they want somewhere. You can still order the pineapple teriyaki noodles or cauliflower and gorganzola pizza if you keep coming here. Stop acting like you know better and only your preferences matter."

The interesting thing about metaphors is that sometimes the metaphier will apply to more than one metaphrand, depending on the prior perceptions and understandings of the reader.

What’s with all the hot replies in various threads the last month or so? Is anyone else noticing how quickly people are turning to arguing lately, or am I just paying more attention? Seems like every top thread has someone going off on someone else of late.

I don't think it's just you, but I also don't think it's just a recent thing, exactly--though this might be a bit of a heat wave, so to speak.

In the absence of anything to talk about, people will find it necessary to invent new disputes.

I think you're misusing the words necessary and invent and talk and dispute. I wish you wouldn't try so hard to start fights!!!

Well, as my Mama Snarf told me when we took a vacation to Florida, "Just look around you boy. Look at everyone swelterin' and sufferin' here in Florida. Jus' remember ... it's not the heat, it's the stupidity. Now get yer Mama some of that RC Cola to chase down this handle of Captain Morgans."

The past: After eating at the Chinese buffet, the lunch group votes to go to the Pizza place next week instead of the Burrito place.

The present:

"I think I'll order a burrito"

"Uhm..."

"What, again your going to treat me unfairly and not let me order what I want!?!? Why do you have to artificially restrict things! It makes no sense that you can't just go along and be a good team player. I'm in a restaurant and trying to order food. That's what one does as a restaurant!!!"
