Unpopular opinions go here

The last thing settings need are pages and pages of actual setting seems like an odd position to take, but it is the unpopular opinion thread.

Game books are for using, not reading. You want to read? Go to the library. Don’t try selling me novels in game book form.

Actually going to take that a step further. At least novels have character and plot. Stop trying to sell me history texts about made up places in game book form.

Yeah, as with most of the failings of the DCEU, the problems start with the executive office. The people who said "you know, the Dark Knight trilogy worked really well -- we need a dark and gritty Superman!" are the one who are the real problem.

Strangely enough, you can do a dark and gritty Superman right. Ever seen Justice League: Gods and Monsters??

From Bruce Timm; who help spearhead the DCAU. Produced only two years before Synder's Justice League. There were no serious objections to this because it's billed as a complete reimagining of the entire DC universe to be more dark and edgy. Also, after producing five or six very good and very faithful DC series; people were very understanding of a creator wanting to try something different tone wise.

There's also Justic League Dark Apocalypse War!

An end to the "animated movie verse" after the DCAU. And they make the most of the ending part by killing almost everyone. But even with liquid Kryptonite flowing through him, Superman still fought on with all his heart. A part of being "Superman" is being able to be a shining beacon even in the most screwed up world. Though this is more put Superman in a dark setting then make Superman dark.

Because one is largely useless except as gate keeping ammunition for setting Uber fans who want to keep things pure and the other is actually fun.

Hey this is the unpopular opinion thread.

People laud thing like the FRCS. I couldn’t even begin to be bothered opening the cover. Do not care.

Once WotC actually stopped with all the setting wank and gave me actual, practical books that I can use at my table? Poof instant Realms fan.

It's certainly not alone in this sort of portrayal of Jonathan Kent. It's almost beat for beat like the version of Jonathan we saw in Smallville where the source of fear was wrapped up into who would want

I absolutely  love fictional history texts. Game books are for reading and using, as we see fit. Your opinion is very much  not shared by me. You want to play a game? Do so, and stop promoting the idea that publishers should stop making things I like.

Yeah, that "largely useless except as gatekeeping ammunition" is a stretch, my guy, and Fans vs. Fun is a fallacy. You're not just sharing an unpopular opinion, you're throwing barbs.

Besides. You already said you won't buy "history texts about made up places," so you shouldn't care how many of them get written.

Seriously though, besides being a jerk who neglects his friends, Jackie Paper has no game.

Grows up past being a little kid, and not even once thinks of taking a girl (or guy) that he's trying to impress to hang out with dragons and noble kings and princes in Honah Lee?
Jackie Paper has as much game as any other 7-year old boy. Which is to say, none.

Who cares about impressing other kids, when your best friend is a dragon?

Except that you got what you wanted for decades while I was told to suck it up.

Now I’m getting what I want and you still have decades of what you want.
