D&D 5E Check Out Planescape's Table of Contents & More!

Brandes Stoddard has received a copy of Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse (which come out in two weeks!) and is posting loads of photos over on Blue Sky. You can check out his feed for the whole treasure trove--here's a look at the table of contents.

Yeah, the more time goes on, the more convinced I am that this Vecna adventure is going to feature some sort of partial-reset of their multiverse - something to give them cover to get rid of anything they now consider controversial or problematic, while simultaneously allowing them to retain whatever elements they want to keep.

Which is fine, I guess - it's their multiverse to do with what they will. Unfortunately, 'problematic' is very much a moving target, so any hope this is a one-and-done project is unlikely to be justified.
Sadly, I've been thinking the same thing, along the same lines when Disney dismissed the Extended Universe* so they could move forward without the burden of years of prior worldbuilding. Yes, it keeps things fresh and hip for the crowd just learning about it and lets you get rid of bad writing - but it sucks when "all that you knew" is no longer true and if you want to keep up you have to learn it all over again (and dustbin that sack of old information). Especially if the replacement feels trite or shallow.

*That hurt a lot, BTW - Filoni has been doing a great job hauling what he can back in and spiffing it up where possible. Long live the E-Wing and Thrawn!

I do miss the E-Wing.

Wonder if the Eater of Knowledge will still be tied to Ilsensine; not aware of any references to it in 5E previously (and TBH the idea of illithids having gods in any conventional sense always seemed a little odd to me).

EDIT: I stand corrected, Ilsensine was referenced - and retconned to be less like a god, more like a psionic gestalt - in Volo's. Which is of course non-canon Legacy Content, now. Makes me wonder now if the Eaters will provide an opportunity to re-insert that lore, or make up something new.

Thanks for sharing!

15 faction NPCs, plus...

Archon (Hound, Lantern, Warden)
Bariaur Wanderer
Baernoloth
Cranium Rat (Squeaker, Squeaker Swarm)
Dabus
Darkweaver
Eater of Knowledge
Demodand / Gehreleth (Faratsu, Kelubar, Shator)
Githzerai (Futurist, Traveler, Uniter)
Guardinal (Avoral, Equinal, Musteval)
Inevitable (Kolyarut,
Maelephant
Modron (Decaton, Hexton, Septon, Octon, Nonaton)
Planar Incarnate
Razorvine Blight
Rilmani (Aurumach, Cuprilach, Ferrumach)
Shemeshka (unique arcanoloth NPC)
Sunfly (Sunfly, Sunfly Swarm)
Time Dragon (Wyrmling, Young, Adult, Ancient)
Vargouille Reflection

Oh hey, Baernaloths! Curious to see how they're handled, as I'm still a bit sore over how 5e handled the Oinoloth (it's an individual archfiend, not a category!), but it's nice to see those nightmarish abominations make a return.

Sudden Blind Clockmaker PSTD Flashbacks

Why am I crying?
I abhor that they've gone to absolute Alphabetical for the entries. At first I missed there was a Young Time Dragon because it's at the end of the list instead of with the Adult Time Dragon. And the different modrons are scattered throughout the list.

It's a fair size list - there could always be more, as face it there were 3 Planescape MCs, but looks like they did a good mix of different foes and NPCs worthy of encountering. I'm willing to bet there's a few more (primarily named NPCs, like Morte) in the adventure book.

Your parameters are so narrow that no matter what they did, you can find a reason to justify your ongoing discontent with Wizards.
Mod Note:

I understand what your point is, but surely you can find a less confrontational way of expressing it. Do better in the future, please.

Ilsensine's realm is in the book, the Caverns of Thought.
