Hey, I've never had good caviar before, but if it's really that much better than the stuff I have had... I'm not sure I'm ready.Dear gawds above and below, deliver us from this evil.
More and more, I try to keep from identifying as a fan of something and try to think more actively -- a shift from "I am this" to "I enjoy this." I don't think it matters to others, but I think it's been healthier for me to keep the things I enjoy outside of my sense of identity. It's still a work in progress (it's less successful with sports for me), but I think it's been a good thing so far."You're not a real fan unless you consume every bit of content and agree that it's all wonderful" is a great way to drive people away from your fandom.
I really miss aliens that had their own language. Star Wars seems to have moved in a everybody speaks the same language and understands each other direction.Star Wars is at its best when it is either
(a) Overtly political
and/or
(b) Really freakin' weird
I think Star Trek is more responsible for that.I really miss aliens that had their own language. Star Wars seems to have moved in a everybody speaks the same language and understands each other direction.
No, there have been discussions about audiences really really not liking subtitles, especially children, so its been largely scraped.I think Star Trek is more responsible for that.
I'm not sure what that has to do with it. Both franchises use subtitles sometimes, and don't other times. No, there have been discussions about audiences really really not liking subtitles, especially children, so its been largely scraped.![]()
It came up in a recent Mandalorian discussion with Favreau.I'm not sure what that has to do with it. Both franchises use subtitles sometimes, and don't other times.
When Jim Henson made The Dark Crystal, he felt that it was unhealthy for children to never feel fear from their stories. It is completely appropriate for fiction aimed at children to include terrible events or frights like Atreyu's horse Artax drowning in the Swamp of Sadness, the banshee from Darby O'Gill and the Little People, or Large Marge from Pee Wee's Big Adventure.
