Sometimes someone does want to specifically disagree with an individual's point. The fact your position is very specifically the one they disagree with does not mean they're picking on you.

If you're going to cite something in support of your point, it's worthwhile to go and re-read it to make sure that it actually supports it, otherwise you're going to end up looking very silly.
