Unpopular Geek Media Opinions

I only liked Rogue One because it looked and felt like an original SW movie. Something that was very jarring to me in the prequels. I didnt like The Last Jedi because it felt like a lot of rebel noble suicides in RO style that was very off for a saga film.
Like visually and stuff sure I guess. Tonally, though? Idk about that.
I do think ROJ was an excellent crown to the trilogy, despite the ewoks.
The Ewoks are great!
Sequels are hard to pull of and Empire is the gold standard. Maybe that gets it some extra points for folks, I just think its a great movie.
IMO the gold standard for sequels is Terminator 2, or the Two Towers, but yeah I mean I just don’t enjoy ESB early as much as most SW fans.

Oh no, the tone was for sure different and intended to be. I think it works outside the saga.

The only thing holding back T2 from gold standard for me is the dialogue in that movie. Its really bad. I had the same issue with LotR movies as the books. Really enjoyed Fellowship, was bored of the rest.

I think I remember it being in one of the TV releases.

I do like that deleted scene.
It was definitely in at least one TV release I saw and is part of that referenced "extended content", however when seeing it outside a theatre for the first time, I could have sworn that I had already seen it.

Not as bad as the T1 sex scene I had memory holed and was shocked to see when watching it with my son when he was in middle school. Neither sexy nor romantic, which I think Cameron was hoping to achieve. It was so bad, maybe this was his "just say no" moment.

Likewise, Cameron's notion of what punks look and act like, and what goes on in a punk club, are unintentionally hilarious.

T1? You should rewatch the scene. I just did, on YouTube. It's an 80s regular Dance Club, not a punk venue. Nightclubs in those days had an industrial look with steel fences. It made them edgy but not punk.

I think we were going to different clubs in the 1980s. All of the "pop culture" bits in T1 felt very "how do you do, fellow kids" to me.
The people portrayed in T1 are regular people who followed the fashion of the day, which is pretty much the majority of people, otherwise, the fashion industry would have collapsed long ago.

[edit] Cinematographically speaking, having them look clueless/partying makes T-1000's appearance even more robotic, calculating and cold.

I'm curious, were you a rocker, heavy metal head or a punk?

I think I conflated the punks who confront Arnie when he arrives in the past (who are realistic-ish, but a little dated for the time, but read more punk for a general audience) and the club scene.

I was going to clubs in the 1980s. This scene -- where no one but Arnie, interestingly, appears to have worked up a sweat in a hot night club -- looks like someone just grabbed random clothes at the Glendale Galleria, rather than going with how people dressed in actual night clubs.

I'm not saying T1 is a bad movie -- far from it -- but it really shows its age, much more than T2 does, IMO.
