Unpopular Geek Media Opinions

Movies are filmed at least one year before their theatrical release. Extras in the T1 club scene are wearing 1983 fashion. Fashion is not monolithic. There are several simultaneous styles in each era. One style doesn't invalidate the others.

Everything in a movie is shorthand. The people in the club aren't meant to reflect what actual people in a real club would wear, they are meant to evoke the idea of people in a club so the audience understands the scene.

Not quite what I was thinking when I said "time travel movie," but it seems like it could be a fair period piece.
The trailer doesnt hit what I was thinking. In the movie the college baseball players travel from house to house, bar to bar to party. Each place has disco, punk, beatniks, preppies, etc... Feels like a time machine.

Accurate observation. It's like the dance club in every vampire action movie: a bunch of people in vaguely Goth or Emo black leather outfits dancing to a Rob-Zombie-inspired playlist in a darkish room with a few flashing lights while an imperious club owner looks down on the dance floor from an overhanging balcony.
