I'm going to counter with an equally hot one: prior to Kickstarter, there are a number of pretty good games that I suspect would never have seen the light of day. I'm quite willing to put up with the fact that also means we got more drek.

Oh, I've heard. I've been mostly fortunate to avoid that, in part because I don't tend to back any sort of physical products. Worst I've had is some things that were late as hell, or the somewhat lackluster stretch goals from the Alternity 2 Kickstarter.

I have friends who were screwed over by his antics in other Kickstarters. People who were supposed to be in his productions or whose names were used to support his funding efforts, when they had nothing to do with the projects. I think that you do to...?

And yet this incredibly simple product (I think he Kickstarted it twice?) was never produced. I could have done it, never having done a Kickstarter before in my life.

I'd also have had the advantage I already knew about Whitman and wouldn't even touch anything he's involved with.

Yeah. At some point you switch from a stabbing to cutting the person in half and that sucker has definitely crossed the line.
