D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

Each day this week, Wizards of the Coast will be releasing a new live-streamed preview video based on the upcoming Player's Handbook. The first is entitled Everything You Need To Know and you can watch it live below (or, if you missed it, you should be able to watch it from the start afterwards). The video focuses on weapon mastery and character origins.

There will be new videos on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week, focusing on the Fighter, the Paladin, and the Barbarian, with (presumably) more in the coming weeks.

also a solution:

remove 2 skills from 1st level class features:
just leave bonus 1 skill for classes that start with 3 skills and bonus 2 skills for classes that start with 4 skills.

add those 2 skills to backgrounds

then you can pick:

any 4 skills.
any 1 feat.

That is my objection with "inspiration" − it punishes players who prefer casters.

I wish 5e went with 4e rules where the "attacker always rolls" whether sword attack or spell attack.

Otherwise it is unfair for caster players.
Oh no. A mechanic that doesn't favor casters for once. This is such a tragedy.
I'm not particularly invested in this caster tragedy; however, I do prefer the 4e rule where the "attacker always rolls."

I am aware - I was there. I also sell D&D books, and have done since 2e was the active edition.

What I said was not that the player-facing rules have changed less than 2e did. What I said was that the Adventures are still FOR SALE and that they will still work with the new core books.

And I said that that is a big deal for WotC.
Oh well thank you for burnishing your street cred. You’re the 3,576th person who remembers “back then” and sells books.

I think you’re overstating the impact.
