D&D (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

Each day this week, Wizards of the Coast will be releasing a new live-streamed preview video based on the upcoming Player's Handbook. The first is entitled Everything You Need To Know and you can watch it live below (or, if you missed it, you should be able to watch it from the start afterwards). The video focuses on weapon mastery and character origins.

There will be new videos on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week, focusing on the Fighter, the Paladin, and the Barbarian, with (presumably) more in the coming weeks.

It seems there are several folks here who object to folks stating concerns with which they don't agree. Perhaps we're all just supposed to get on board and only say good things.

Right right, no one is allowed to say anything bad at all, criticism isn't accepted. After all, this is all just completely legitimate criticism that doesn't attack anyone's preferences

Yeah I pretty much despise all of this art, the style of it, the "feel", all of it is just so lame to me, it's just awful, but hey that's me. I imagine in turn the "game" it has become is not for me at all either any more. There is absolutely nothing about this art that makes me go, "That looks awesome, can't wait to play some D&D!" It has the opposite effect, it is literally repulsive, I'd rather run some errands, or do some laundry, or take out the garbage. Thank goodness there is plenty of other art and d&d games to have fun with. Maybe everyone loves this neo-d&d style, but it just doesn't connect with me at all.

No, the wealth of evidence post Tashas/Witchlight, is all the proof we need that its become gentle/twee/soft.

I must have missed it with the googly eyed pets, and the families out on a walk or baking.
Don't even know what this one is about, I haven't seen any official art with that.

Haha, even my 10 year old son will think this all lame as could be. He'll probably wonder if this is even d&d or come other game for for his younger cousins or something.

And that's just the stuff at the start of the discussion. But yeah, we just can't accept honest criticism that the art is soft, gentle, lame disgusting, repulsive...

Honest question, where are they man?

I think this is a key problem here. You guys have apparently seen tons of art that isn't in any threads, and no-one seems to have posted around in the D&D community generally. I don't doubt you have seen it, but where is it? Is it briefly seen in the incredibly long videos WotC puts out, which are largely middle-aged men with beards talking to each other lol? Has anyone got some timestamps? I ask mainly because I couldn't even find one of the art pieces people were talking about being in the Barbarian video, despite scanning back and forwards through it.
The videos are one of the big sources, for sure, but D&D Twitter is flooded with the artists going "hey, I can share this now that it was in a giant video, my art is in the PHB!" And the influencer previews being shared about.

For your convenience, here are some less twee pieces from the new books, soirced by going to the journalist Christian Hoffer's Twitter because he reteerts the artists:

Yeah, they are in the videos. And I just think most of us haven't bothered to screen capture them. Every video is showing like fifteen different pieces of art. It is just too much effort to try and gather all of that
