Also, just out of interest, is this the first time we've seen someone hold an un-activated lightsaber to someone else's head like that? I don't recall it happening before, it's such a dark visual.
That, and that's the first time I've seen lightsabers get damage and then auto-repair. I didn't know that lightsabers were flat worms. Cut them in half, and they just grow right back.

Not really sure why he cut the lightsabers in half and didn't cut off hands like they've done every time before in Star Wars, but, ok...

I gotta admit, I'm not liking this one very much. The characters are just too stupid. I don't like shows that have their characters act in really obviously stupid ways just to advance the plot. And I can forgive a LOT.

One other thing that I want to nitpick. Why can you pull off a droid's head to make it a flashlight, - ok, I'll buy that - that comes with some sort of clothes pin so you can stick it to someone's back? And then, somehow, after the giant moth things carry off the bad guy, bad guy fights them off, drops to the ground and the guy that's supposed to be long gone back to the ship, just happens to be hanging around to pick up said droid's head? Bwuh? And then, to top THAT off, somehow Sol makes it back to the ship before the tracker?

And, can someone explain why we had a wookiee jedi? I mean, the whole point of coming here was to find this jedi, and they didn't even look inside the house. :erm:

Like I said, I'm a big Star Wars fan. I'll overlook a LOT of stuff, but, wowsers, this is some ginormously huge plot holes.

hat, and that's the first time I've seen lightsabers get damage and then auto-repair.
It's cortosis (from legends). It's a metal that temporarily deactivates lightsabre blades when they strike it. Qimir's sabre hilt and helmet appear to be made of it.

Pip is a multitool. It has pincers and things for repairs. We have seen it in use in earlier episodes.

What’s a “Legends”?

This is kinda why I’m finding Star Wars to be getting more and more opaque. It’s turning into the EU all over again.

It’s the nature of franchises to accumulate more lore as time goes on. The same as the Forgotten Realms is forbidding to new players.

Wait for a certain character to pull out her purple light-whip in the last episode.

Lightwhips are more or less a female weapon.

Lumiya, Silri, Githany and Venestra.

More coincidence but something I noticed.

Live action could be interesting. Lumiya had the best looking one.

When we're talking YA fiction, the age range is more typically around 12 to 18. It's about adolescence, not post-adolescence.
oh i see my google search was weak, that is correct.

doesn't change my opinion that Acolyte at the very least is inspired by YA and that a lot of the complaints about it are complaints about the genre, not bad writing/acting in particular.

Uh.....I have no problem with YA fiction or style. The writing for this show is not good and it has nothing to do with YA. It is not consistent even with itself. I do not have an issue with a lot of the elements introduced but I have a lot of problems with execution.

could you provide examples? Because if you don't I can't do anything other than go, okay you dont' like this, you think it isn't executed well. And move on.

As pointed out, it was striking cortosis armor that was briefly disrupting the lightsaber functionality. I think they will explain more about cortosis in a future episode, which would be good. A show should be accessible to more than just hardcore fans.

Only one lightsaber was cut in half, and I think it was Kalnacca's, which makes some sense as it seemed (appropriately) longer than a normal hilt.

Yeah, the show's spatial reasoning is a bit muddled.

Qimir has bracers on both arms made from it. Not sure about his saber hilt... Could a lightsaber be made of cortosis? Maybe just a coating? I will have to go back and rewatch the fight scenes.
