At the intersection of sanctimonious and purposefully obtuse is ignore street.
It’s a blissful street some people are afraid to go down.
Personal word filters would reduce the blood pressure of so many posters.See, if I could add people to a short list for this, AND add keywords that would lead to their post being blocked, that would be so sweet.
Have you gotten to the point where you're putting a lunch box sized cooler in your freezer? For the record, I am not saying I'm not one.
I have thought way too much recently about how to get my ice cubes to be completely transparent without spending hundreds of dollars (a thing people do) to make home cocktails look cooler, something that no one in my household even cares about and is only something I'm doing out of idle curiosity.
I actually have those starter sets (and physical dice) from a game years ago. Never ran those particular adventures though.Anyone else in the group who might be up for running something – D&D or otherwise? Perhaps some Troubleshooters as a palate cleanser (the link has some test adventures and pregens)? Or Star Wars – I can strongly recommend the Age of Rebellion beginner set and the followup Operation Shadowpoint which you should be able to download from Edge Studios' site (although Star Wars uses wonky dice, which is not a thing everyone enjoys). Or maybe check something from DTRPG's Christmas in July sale?
I do have a VTT game. This is/was just my only in person game. I'd miss not using any of my painted minis, gaming table, etc. Plus VTTs, well, I've never played in a game that seemed to engage the players. It's just sort of "sit there and wait" and kill time looking at social media.I'm sure you've talked about this, but I gather VTT remote play is a non-starter for you?
That's a step too far for me -- I don't have the room in the freezer, for one thing -- but I am leaving our existing silicone molds out after emptying them until they're room temperature, so that they keep the next set of ice cubes from freezing too quickly. I think it's making the bottom half of the ice cubes clearer, but realistically, I should probably start photographing the ice to be sure. And that's the road to Crazytown.Have you gotten to the point where you're putting a lunch box sized cooler in your freezer?

As a possible variant take--especially if you're like me and don't feel like trying to learn to run a VTT--you can see if you can find players who are TRPGing with a GM with a webcam pointed at a battlemat. It's not a perfect solution, but depending on how much you have invested in tabletop stuff, it might be a worthwhile compromise. While I can see some of the latter, I saw plenty of that back when I was playing FTF. I also found once I started collecting maps and making tokens I appreciated them as much as I had my miniatures back when I used those, and found not having to engage with reaching everything in the play space a relief.
Seriously, if you're having trouble finding players, I'd consider getting into VTT more. It isn't lacking in its warts, but at least you're not limited to whoever you can find within driving distance.
