So I take a brief hiatus, and ... what is this? Pork chops?

Also, I saw what some of you were up to. I know what you're thinking ... When the Snarf is away, the Bards will play. Well, let me learn you somethin' somethin'.

The internet doesn't forget. And the Snarf? Snarf doesn't forgive. I see what y'all been doing .... @MNblockhead ...

Anyway, I have learned some valuable lessons from this hiatus.

1. Travel, as always, is awesome. No one has ever died saying, "You know, I think I spent too much time on vacation traveling to cool places."

2. If you put Bards in charge of software updates, prepare to reap the whirlwind.

3. Finally, if you can manage to be pleasant and treat the people who are dealing with a terrible customer service situation like the humans that they are who did not cause the problem, they will often go out of their way to give you extras. Being stuck in a foreign country for a long time? Not great! But being put up in an amazing hotel with all the best free food, and lots of time to continue to explore and enjoy the place you're in? Could be a lot worse.

I finally got to take a brief vacation (just 2 days) with my better half for the first time since 2018 and it was glorious. It was the perfect time to hit the Oregon coast (I had not been to Lincoln City in forever). That is a long winded way of saying I am very jealous of your time away.

Oh, and you have missed some really wackado threads in the wilds of the Community forums. I am also jealous of that because I cannot get that time back.

I make an absolutely fantastic soup with activated almonds and charcoal salt, but you have to have a properly refined palate to really appreciate it.

Which in my experience means, "This stuff tastes bad, but because folks of means and influence eat it, new folks will eat it as well and eventually get used to the taste."

Okay. I'll help get things back on topic. So last night I discovered something that I dislike as much as pineapple on pizza. Pineapple in tacos!!

We ordered tacos to be delivered and someone messed up somewhere. Badly. My tacos came with little diced pineapple bits in it, which when covered by spicy red sauce are virtually indistinguishable from diced onions. One bite later I was horrified.

For sure. Even when I'm so angry that I can't keep the anger out of my tone, I make sure to tell the customer service person that it's not them I'm angry with and I know it's not their fault.
