Limit Break Dancing (He/They)
Farfetched(?) example:

Me: Maybe I'll start using Intelligence instead of Dexterity for initiative rolls. Anyone else tried it?

Some guy: How dare you. That isn't fun, it can't be fun, and other people will wrongly assume it's fun if I remain silent. So in this essay, I will address everything that is wrong with your idea, with considerable emphasis on your poor understanding, your wizard fetish, and your obvious hatred of rogues...

Me: Yikes. (clicks ignore)

Me, later: Why is everyone yelling at each other about rogues and wizards? I wanted to talk about initiative.

That sounds so much like the Shadowdark Facebook group, unfortunately. It's especially hilarious when someone is talking about an optional rule in the book and several someones who clearly haven't read the full rulebook are decrying it as heresy.

But "boneless wing" is not a cooking style, as is clear by the way that "wings" and "boneless wings" use the same cooking style. The only difference is an expectation on whether there might be bone in there. That expectation is how you base a decision on whether you order one or the other!

I don't care how long-held the legal principle is, if you have to misrepresent the language to get it to apply.
Yeah, this is different than the argument over whether tomatoes are fruit or vegetables for regulatory and taxation purposes. This is a tort / product liability case interpreting the reasonable expectations of a consume. The dissent argument is far more persuasive to me. Now, I don't know much about the process of making highly processed, boneless chicken products. It may be very difficult to ensure that there are no bones or bone fragments in 100% of chicken nuggets, chicken patties, chicken tenders, and boneless chicken wings. But in my decades of eating these things, I've never encountered a bone or bone fragments (at least sizable enough to notice). That makes me far more sympathetic to the plaintiff in this case.

I just spent several hours cursing at the fact that of all the things you'd think would be easy to find (or construct out of geomorphs) a battlemap of a cliff on the edge of a mountain not facing the ocean is weirdly difficult.
Sometimes you just have to pull out the draw tools and take the old Chessex battle map approach with your digital battlemap. One downside of going deep into using a VTT, that my personal expectations have raised to the point that I make more work for myself. But putting together a battlemap is still artistic enough to be fun for me. But when I find myself spending hours troubleshooting modules and diving into code to get automations to work, I have to remind myself that this is getting to close to what I do for work and there is probably a better use of my time out of the office.

And over and above the above health risk, some of us find bones obnoxious to deal with.
Tangent. I love Chinese and Taiwanese cuisine and have spent a lot of time in both countries. But I never could get used to their "chop the hell out of it" approach to preparing chicken . Yeah, I've heard the arguments that the meat around the bones is better and that some cultures enjoy the mouth feel and process of eating around and spitting out bones and bone fragments. It has always and continues to annoy me. Probably because I didn't grow up with it. Don't even get me started with how crab and lobster is often prepared. Amazing taste, annoying as hell to eat.

Geez. Some of y'all are really locked into that "tell other people how to play D&D" mindset. Does your ego bruise so easily when someone doesn't make the same choices you make? Why can't you just shrug and say "meh" and keep scrolling? It's not like they're damaging the environment or putting lives in danger if they like using Intelligence for initiative rolls (or whatever benign house rule they mention), and the rules don't need a champion to defend their honor.
Hey, all I've ever said, is "play how thou wilt, that is the whole of the law". I used to say "as long as you are having fun", but I've come to accept that some people apparently don't play for fun. I'm not one to yum on someones yuck. ;-)

In theory, I don't like to put people on ignore because it messes up the flow of the thread; in actuality, hitting that button feels really good in the moment.
Nah, seeing certain usernames and just scrolling past is far more satisfying.
