But I do agree that even small changes to that core tended to change more than small changes to 5e’s core do. I think it’s just diluting that reason down to simplicity on 3e’s part seems off.

3e's class system was simple but it was connected to so much that fixing base classes required altered the who game.

5e, not so much. Most of the 2024 changes are minor, shuffling, or making what was optional but popular into core

It's barely a DLC.

If TTRPGs were not book based, there'd be a riot over charging more than $10 for this.
 







By calling it "2024 D&D" instead of, y'know, 5.5e. Or literally any other name that recognizes that it isn't actually 100% the same game they published a decade ago.
I explained this in post #308. Calling it D&D 2024 makes it the 2024 "edition" of D&D under the normal meaning of the word "edition". Calling it 5.5e makes them stuck to a BS marketing scheme they used once, 20 years ago.

And the post you quoted above, I point out that they call it Revised ON THE COVER.

I still feel it is overt bogus marketing speak to name it as they have done.
