What was the selling point? "You too can put fictitious citations in your pleadings!"

Joking aside, a lot of legal stuff is wrought with near-mindless busywork/paperwork. Lots of law firms use paralegals, interns, or entry level lawyers to do that stuff. It's really not a stretch to use AI for a lot of it. As long as the work is properly reviewed, of course.

It's also worth noting that this would/should not be generative AI by most definitions. The AI is finding terms and filling boxes with supplied information, not inventing the information.
