Anyways I'm trying to determine those that will show up in the glossary, they have to have weight on D&D as a whole in various properties and might not necessarily be there if they're important to a single newer campaign setting.

Like for example I'm definitely sure the Lady of Pain gets an entry, maybe Shemeshka the Marauder gets one, possibly even certain characters from Planescape: Torment, but Rowan Darkwood or Rhys might not because they have very little outside of Planescape.

Well, so far we know: Iggwilv, Iuz, Laeral Silverhand, League of Malevolence, and Lord Soth.

That's 2 Greyhawk NPCs, a Forgotten Realms NPC, an 80s Action Figure organization, and a Dragonlance NPC.

Rudolph Van Richten is shown in one of the previews. I wager Strahd gets a mention too, but I don't know who else in Ravenloft gets dropped.

I'm sure the Heroes of the Lance get an entry, as well Drizzt and his merry band. The Circle of the Eight is another easy include.

I'm very sure Drizzt, Elminister, Szass Tam and Volo get some as FR NPCs.

Kas probably gets one from Greyhawk, though I don't think he's the one we see a partial entry because I thought he's supposed to be a Vampire.

Lord of Blades and Vol are probably going to get entries as Eberron NPCs.

If there's more than a mention of Athas as a world, then we might see Borys and Rajaat.

Looking through the posted images, I can glean the following other figures from the Lore Glossary:

  • Unnamed Wizard of Greyhawk who may or may not be a Lich, alphabetically between Iuz and Laeral Silverhand (Greyhawk)
  • Acererak (Greyhawk)
  • the magical metal Adamantium (general D&D)
  • Alustriel Silverhand (Forgotten Realms)
  • Ashardalon, Red Dragon of Greyhawk
  • Possibly Bahumet (general D&D)
  • Raven Queen (Nentir Vale)
  • Rock of Bral (Spelljammer)
  • Rudolph van Richten (Ravenloft)

Quite the mix of stuff...

We use the method of rolling the damage die as normal and then adding the max value of that die. That way even if you roll a 1, it's going to be 1 point better than if you hadn't scored a critical hit. That way critical hits are always critical hits, and not normal hits that just pretend to be critical hits.
That's a pretty dramatic power-up for crits then.
