D&D (2024) Rogues can now Sneak Attack with all thrown weapons - Tridents, Spears, Handaxes, they all work!

No you haven't. You just keep insisting they are different. You offer no logic to indicate why they identify "Rage Weapon", claim the link is an error (which itself is logical) and offer no verbiage describing what a Ranged weapon is.

Never said anything about rage weapon... Get your facts straight.

You don't need a seperate definition if there is an actual list. That explicitely names every item that falls in that category.

That is what the book says literally and it never says anywhere that such weapons (like axes, spears etc) are not Ranged Weapons.

A range weapon includes any weapon with a range in parentheses after the Thrown OR Ammunition property.

And the book DOES say somewhere that axes and spears are not Ranged weapons. It lists them in the Weapons table under "Simple Melee Weapons". Darts, light crossbows, shortbows and slings are listed later, under "Simple Ranged Weapons". If you refuse to accept the sections of a table as "what the book says", I'm sorry, but that's arbitrary and on you.

And we know that Melee and Ranged are mutually exclusive, because it says so on page 213. "A weapon is classified as either Melee or Ranged." (bold mine). They can't be both. So what are you suggesting, exactly? That handaxes and spears, which have the Thrown and Range (20/60) properties, are Ranged and not Melee? Does that satisfy you, as a D&D rule? Does it Make Sense? Does it seem Intended? And is it really Written?

And no evidence to the contrary. So we need to look at the actual words. And read them carefully.
And we notice: Range is a property. Ranged weapon is a category.

Two problems with this:

1. Range Weapon is defined and it is quite a leap to say that is different than Ranged Weapon when the latter is not defined by any sort of verbiage that makes sense WRT Sneak Attack.

2. When you read the Sneak Attack section and click on the link it takes you to the very section that defines "Range Weapon"

1. Weapons are never defined for that matter too, just table listings. Melee and Ranged are weapon category classifications that are referenced repeatedly throughout the game.

2. It's a hyperlink shortcut error that should instead refer back to Melee or Ranged in the Weapon details section and not the Range Property.

The part you are quoting is specific to the use, and you left out wording:

"A weapon is classified as either Melee or Ranged. A Melee weapon is used to attack a target within 5 feet, whereas a Ranged weapon is used to attack at a greater distance."

So yes under this definition on page 213, which you qouted a Spear thrown beyond 5 feet is "classified" as a "Ranged Weapon" according to the very text YOU quoted. The same spear used to attack someone within 5 feet is a melee weapon.
