When Do the 5E “Ride or Die” Folks Become Grogs Like The Rest of Us in “D&D Older Editions” And When Do We Get D&D 5E Flair for Posts?

I don’t see a lot of outrage. Not even a lot of folks “put out”.

Some are really mad, sure, some are “meh, not for me” of one flavor or another. Some are just avoiding WotC. But I wouldn’t say there is an edition conflict.

Because ENW has done a much better job of moderating haters over the last decade, than it did when 4e was getting shat on all day every day.

Honestly the 4E stuff goes on to this day. I just added some folks to my ignore list because I didn't want to fight about an edition that's long out of print.

I really do think that 5E has been received much nicer, though. There are people who hate it, like any edition, but the design managed to keep the people who are edition warriors a bit more neutral. Maybe it's a combination of us old hands being just older and all the new people who have never experienced anything else. With a huge amount of non-controversial design choices of course.

I opted to not play or run 4E, but that was 17 years ago. If I had opted to make a kid instead of 4E campaign, that kid would be a senior in high school now.

I can also but if one has an active group already (or can build one up), does it really matter what the global trend is?
I don't think it matters what the current global trend is thanks to the internet and its' various search engines. If you know where to look on the net, you can find and join an RPG group that is playing any edition of D&D.
