Honestly, I'm just happy they're apparently writing it all in advance.

The sequel trilogy would have likely either have been OK or even great (depending on which of the directors had been in charge) had they done so with it.

And I will die on the hill that the sequel trilogy had much better remix characters than the original, in nearly every case. BB-8 is 10 times as charming as R2-D2, for instance.

Other than the writing, I'm not sure there are any situations where the sequel trilogy wasn't hands-down better than the other two. (John Williams' music is great through all three and is probably a tie on that score.)

I was laughing out loud at how brutally obvious the writing of the second of the latest trilogy was. Terrible movie.

Given the 40+ years between them, and the advancement in tech and design savvy that comes with time, is it really a fair comparison, though?

I am just going to mention this-

I have seen less heat generated by discussions about the politics in the Middle East than conversations about Star Wars movies.
