"Doctor, it hurts when I do this."

"So, stop doing that."

"No, no, I choose to do that."

Well, the actual answer they'd probably give is "But I want to be able to do this without it hurting". Which, depending on how important "this" is to them, isn't an entirely illegitimate position to be in (though it can end up being an example of Shylock's Conundrum.)

After the hundredth time of getting one's hand burned, wanting to be able to touch an active stove burner without getting hurt starts to become illegitimate in my book.

See, I was thinking something something induction cooktop ...

Hear me now and believe me later-

I used to be one of those, "Now we're cooking with gas!" kinda guys.

But a few years ago, I moved into a place with a great induction range, and while it took a little while to get used to, I wouldn't go back. The advantages in terms of cleaning, safety, and, you know, the environment are so much higher, and it cooks just as well after the period of time to re-orient your cooking techniques.

And by "cook" I mean drink, and by "switching from a gas range to an induction range" I mean switching from drinking swanky cocktails to just pouring straight gin.
