This past week has made being online particularly obnoxious, so shout out to the mods for keeping this as one of the few places online I can still go to get my mind off of things.

No idea. Mostly I've picked up that it was mostly cheese pizza in the 70s, people started to add a bunch of toppings in the '80s and '90s, and then people started deconstructing the idea of pizza when the Brick Oven opened at the turn of the century.

Now that pizza metaphor is getting rather strained

I prefer peanut oil. Some schoolkids may die, but that's a risk I'm happy to take.
