Following the richest man in the world's attack on Wizards of the Coast for two paragraphs in the 500-page celebration of D&D, The Making of Original Dungeons & Dragons 1970-1977, Elon Musk--who bought Twitter not that long ago--wants to know how much D&D's owner Hasbro would cost.

After the public sharing on Twitter of Jason Tondro's (who wrote the book’s foreword) private Facebook posts, Musk replied "How much is Hasbro?"

Hasbro's estimated capitalization is currently $8.71 billion, with $3.95 billion of debt.

It was on 21st December 2017 when Musk similarly enquired "How much is it?" before proceeding to make a bid for Twitter. He later tried to back out of the deal, but was forced to buy the platform for $44 billion in June 2022. Current estimates by investment firm Fidelity put the platform at a value 80% less than when he bought it, with a worth of only about $9.4 billion.

Sawa
Isn't he supposed to be setting up some sort of government "efficiency" agency right now?

He's the world's most exhausting person. Literally, every time I hear something new from him, I want to hear less from him.
Department Of Government Efficiency, or DOGE? Should have been called the Committee Responsible for Investigating the Nature of Governmental Expenditures.

I don't think it would be this simple because of all the logistical red tape (difficult terrain) and hoops (acrobatic checks) he would have to go through to acquire Paizo.

Plus the people who run Paizo would have to weigh in on what's more important to them. The money or their company's reputation. If they sold Paizo to Musk, Paizo's reputation takes a major hit within the RPG community. The act would drive away a number of its' fans who have played and enjoyed Pathfinder over the last couple years. If they refused to sell Paizo to him, what could Musk do? A number of things I am sure, but all of them would cost him money. I would be amused if their would-be refusal led to him being surprised (psychic damage) and shocked (lightning damage).

I like to think he would have a better time dealing with a dragon. Not. 😋
After you sell your car for a MASSIVE profit....do you care what color the new owner paints it?

FOREWORD!
Sorry. I probably shouldn't have posted yesterday. It was a very hard day (I found my father-in-laws body in his bathroom a couple days ago so the family get together felt...well...) And Jason is a genuine good guy. The vitriol directed to him was the stick that broke the camel's back so-to-speak. I apologize for not just the misspelling I should have caught, being a publisher and all, but for the anger in my post.

Wannabe dictator. It's one thing to want the position, it's quite another thing to actually be one.
The dictator in question is literally commander-in-chief. He hasn’t gone full oligarch yet, but it is very realistically possible for him to dismantle the intended checks and balances enough to seriously harm our democracy. He certainly will if the Heritage Foundation gets its way.

That’s awful, I’m so sorry for your loss
