Maybe I'm just feeling a bit negative about humanity at the moment. But I just see people failing at media literacy when they watch him. I dunno.

I see Ron Swanson as a caricature. I know many, maybe most, people do not. And I suspect you're right and he will indeed age badly.

There's always a problem with writing something with one intent, and having people interpret it the exact opposite of what you're trying for. This is a particular risk if you're trying for any subtlety at all, or why going for irony on the Net is always a massive risk.

Well, I finally had my colonoscopy yesterday. Thought I'd just chill out today and waste some time on game forums and Reddit.

...thinking I'd rather have another colonoscopy.


On a side note - wow, modern anesthesia is amazing. The only other time I've been put out was when I had some wisdom teeth pulled as a kid, like almost 40 years ago. This time I don't remember anything past the anesthesiologist saying "you'll feel a sting" and when I woke in the recovery room, I was pretty much back to normal, able to get dressed and walk, talk and think normally. With all of the warnings about needing someone to take you home, don't work, etc. I figured I would be out of it for the day. Turned out to be a big nothingburger.

Sometimes the explanation is something you'd never consider. I once asked the owners of a Toronto Thai restaurant, that's popular with university students, why they named the place "Salad King." The husband answered, "Sign was on building when we buy. New sign too expensive."
