I didn't know about any of these. Most of the ones in Mass look a little out of my way (I see one near Lowell and some other pretty far south from where I am)

I'm in New England - the Italians run everything around here. ;)

Hyperbole!

I watched one or two episodes decided it wasn't for me so I stopped watching
Parks & Rec was a completely different and much more cynical show (and much worse) before Rob Lowe and Adam Scott joined the cast partway through Season 2. After that point is pretty much consistently excellent throughout (other than of course the occasional but consistent hatred of fat people the show demonstrates through most of its run)

As another person who failed to get into Parks and Rec, I'd say that Ron Swanson is a big part of why. I've seen a few episodes and a bunch of clips about him that are supposed to be funny. But all I get is Toxic Masculinity. Intentionally making the government fail to provide for the community while hoarding personal wealth (and hiding it from taxes), massive entitlement, constantly badmouthing everyone he views as beneath him. I wonder if 25 years from now people will talk about him the same way we talk about "Nice Guy" Ross now.

I see Ron Swanson as a caricature. I know many, maybe most, people do not. And I suspect you're right and he will indeed age badly.
