OSR Does "Old School" in OSR only apply to D&D?

OSR for old school revival. Not just D&D. For me, star wars d6 is ok. I think OSR, I think simplicity. And yet Rolemaster and Merp are old school and not simple!

Which seems bass-ackwards to me, given the foundational importance of OSRIC and AD&D 1E to the OSR.

Its normally from the people who lean really heavily into the "rulings not rules" part of that mindset; to their view, the simpler the better because it builds less expectations. In the most extreme cases they don't like anything beyond original three-book OD&D.

Which I understand, but it still seems plum-ignorant of the history.

Places like Home | Original D&D Discussion and Home | Knights And Knaves Alehouse also centered OD&D in their discussions, but no one in the OSR of the 2000s or 2010s would have denied that AD&D was also at the core of the OSR.
